After my latest setup of ubuntu 10.04, I was facing problem with the keyring password access whenever I was accessing yahoo on Empathy.
To change gnome-keyring password graphically
Places ==> Home Folder
then, ctrl+h to view the hidden files.
.gnome2 ==> keyrings
delete the the file default.keyring
next time when you’ll try anything like that, it’ll ask for new password.
To change gnome-keyring password for CLI
to keep backup of the original file
mv ~/.gnome2/keyrings/default.keyring ~/.gnome2/keyrings/default.keyring.bak
Even if I’m trying to update with update manager or apt, synaptic is not updating. I faced this weired problem in ubuntu 10.04.
There is a very simple solution to get rid out of this problem.
Just execute this command in your terminal.
sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
remove the line which contains CD/DVD ROM and the next line (if any, without starting with #)
update again with
sudo apt-get update
If you are no too unlucky you are already done with updating. enjoy 😀
install/execute/run .sh file
.sh is a shell script. To run this kind of script go to terminal and type
extraxt .tar.gz file
sudo tar xvfz package.tar.gz -C /opt
x –> extract
v –> list what is extracting(verbose)
f –> specifies the file to use
z –> location for the file to be extracted(for optional packages, usually /opt is used)
